No voy a traducir esta pieza porque la traducción implica una comprensión del texto y Revolution N 9 no pretende ser comprendida, al menos no en términos lingüísticos. Si no sabían de la existencia de Revolution N9 ahora lo pueden escuchar.

Esta "canción" es probablemente las más "evitada" en cualquier CD, cassete o LP de los Beatles. De su nuevo amor con Yoko, John también sacó la necesidad de mostrar sus ideas vanguardistas, creando piezas experimentales con Yoko. Lejos de limitar esta actividad a su estudio casero, John decidió grabar Revolution 9 como parte del Album Blanco.


El corte fue grabado de manera similar a las cintas de "Tomorrow Never Knows", con gente dandole vueltas a bucles de cintas con lápices por los 3 estudios de Abbey Road. John las mezcló en directo, y posteriormente añadió con George lineas bizarras como "the watusi", "the twist", "economically viable", "financial imbalance", etc...


Entender Revolution 9 no solo es impensable, sino que es una pérdida de tiempo, ya que no tiene interpretación posible. Sin embargo y gracias a la paciecia de Lewisohn, sabemos de donde han salido la mayoría de los sonidos (al menos los más audibles):


* George Martin diciendo "Geoff, put the red light on" repetido y con mucho eco.
* Un coro con violines al revés.
* Extracto de la orquesta de "A Day In The Life"
* Mellotron al revés (John)
* Voz diciendo Numer Nine, de la fonoteca de Abbey Road.


Una vez más (y ya no nos sorprende) Manson se tomó la canción como un mensaje. En la canción, podemos oir a John y Yoko decir "right" -correcto- (sacado de Revolution), pero Manson lo interpretó como "rise" -levantarse-, una palabra que también apareció repetidamente en als escenas de los crímenes.

*jump the gun: significa "salir en falso", es decir, salir antes de que la pistola de el inicio de la partida en una carrera. Por extensión, significa hacer algo antes de tiempo. En castellano poner "sal en falso" no tendría sentido por eso he optado por "empieza rápido" que es, supongo, a lo que se refiere.

**a warm gun, se supone que se refiere a una inyección de heroína. Lennon aparentemente no lo dijo pero tampoco lo negó. De ahí se entiende un poco todo el significado de la canción.

Encontré algo sobre esta canción en wikipedia que puede ser interesante ya que habla de las distintas partes de la canción. Es una de mis favoritas del album, así que revísenla por favor. Happiness is a warm gun
